I think it should be OK as it hasn’t been 19.6 years since it was developed. You should definitely move to a newer devices.

Probably already in equipment, and is outside support window. It might rotate back to an older date and may start in the past. Most of any of these issues will need to be addressed in client's software, and validated at a system level. Will require a significant investment in engineering time.

Almost all receivers from that vintage can accommodate one rollover with no problems.  But if restarted cold (after any power off cycle where data memory is lost assuming rollover flag or extended week number is saved in BBRAM) after 19.6 years since its birth, the date will be 19.6 years behind.
On some receivers you can provide an aiding message to set the correct date if you find yourself in the condition above.
